Mega-Yacht specialists acquire Rodney Bay, St Lucia

As of January, 2007, Island Global Yachting (IGY) acquired mega-yacht Rodney-Bay marina in St. Lucia. IGY is a leading developer in luxury marina facilities. They currently have marinas in St. Maarten and St. Thomas and facilities throughout the Caribbean.

Rodney Bay in St. Lucia is one of the most popular and modern marinas in the Caribbean. Once nothing but swamplands, the area was cleared in the 1970’s and developers realized the potential of the spot. After it was developed in the 1980’s, Rodney Bay became the official port of entry with immigration and customs offices.

The St. Lucia marina currently has 232 berths and a 4.5 acre boatyard plus shops, restaurants and hotels on dry land. Now that IGY is entering the picture, the $100 million project will give Rodney Bay a facelift and bring it into the sailing spotlight.

IGY’s vision for Rodney Bay will offer the market top-notch marina services. As leaders in their field, they have a clear idea of what yacht owners want and plan to deliver on that. They don’t look at the marina merely as a dock, but more like a five star hotel offering many superior services. IGY’s plan is to carry on with their project with as little upset to the rest of the marina as possible.
